a close up of a thistle blossom. used a ring flash on a Sigma 150mm Macro in day light. The dark background was the result of a fast enough shutter to underexpose every thing not directly in front of the lens.

I think that the title goes so well with this photograph. The soft looks and feel I get from this piece are great, and I love the purple with the darkness in the background. It seems to faraway and beautiful.

Reminds me a bit of a furry, organism (you know, when you look under a micrscope).
It just jumps out at you with each separate purple bit.

Very nice, love the effect here. It actually looks, to me anyways, more like a purple sea urchine than a flower, which would also make a beautiful picture, me thinks.
