I don't really believe it... half the local legends aren't true ..

A usually dry area until after Halloween when the November rains flood it every year.

Where did you take these pics? I really want to read up on the legends of the burning witches. Back in those days, a lot of people really did burn women, because they were looked down upon and seen as evil. With everything being dark and confusing back in the day, people couldn't help but suspect perfect and non proper women to be witches. so they tie them to the stake and burn them. If she dies, she was mortal all along. if she lives then she was evil. It's morbid, sickening and wrong, yet eerily fascinating at the same time.

If the town legends are true, then I think this photo is, in many ways, poetic.

They burned witches there once long ago and now the area is flooded so it can never happen again.
