The thickening darkness together with the blue hue of the snow give it a melancholy, almost severe mood. Time seems to have stopped, and one feels as if one were in some mythical place - not the land of the living - and not alive at all anymore. (I love how you manage to capture this timeless, deep feeling in so many of your shots. It resonates somewhere deep inside me every time). Yet the slight redness of the sky gives one a feeling of anticipation....perhaps of something terrifying, perhaps of a new hope rising from the pieces of one's old life, one doesn't yet know. But one feels eager to have this come sooner, whatever it could turn out to be, so that one could find out what exactly it is.
And the contrast between the scarlet sky and the deep blue snow is wonderful.
fullview is surtainly a must! really a great capture Alex! The blue toned ground in the foreground gives the picture a deep and sad mood. The atmosphere is some kind of scary and you get a feeling that hope is fading away. This is also reflected in the title; 'winter's last sunset! totally lovable shot
as nasht-01 said, I don't like the major saturation with of the blue. I really don't like the outcome either, though. I do like the contrast in the orange glow of the sun with the blue, and its a clever shot, just... I'm not feeling it.
